Somewhere in time we sat beneath the pines
You told me your hopes & dreams and I told you mine
We walked the road counting stars up in the sky
And we’re still together baby
Somewhere in time
There was a time when my whole world was you
Back then our love was like a brand new pair of shoes
Just like that old pair of shoes has lost its’ shine
I didn’t know I’d lose you baby
Somewhere in time
There was a time in this old world when you believed in me
I can go there anytime but only in my dreams
There was a place in time when you made me cry
I didn’t know you’d break my heart
Somewhere in time
Somewhere in another time you burned the bridge to me
Thought you didn’t need my love one day you’ll finally see
I was what you needed and when you get cold at night
The bridge is gone
Somewhere in time
There was a time in this old world when you believed in me
I can go there anytime but only in my dreams
There was a place in time when I would find
I’m over you
Somewhere in time

It’s been a month of Sundays
Since I’ve seen your face
The road goes on forever
And you’re gone without a trace
I just can’t forget you &
You’ve erased me from your mind
Only reason we’re apart
Is you’ve got too much pride
How can you sleep at night
With all the lies you’ve told
And how many victims have you had
Since I’ve been gone
I still dream about you
But one thing is for sure
I don’t miss you…….
I miss the man I thought you were
I didn’t know your friends
Back when our love was new
They came in the picture
& you said that we were through
What goes around will come around
& when your friends are gone
It will be so funny
Just to see you all alone
Chorus: And it’s time that I got over you
But it’s not in my hands
For those of us that have a heart
It’s hard to understand
And if you ever loved me
Like you said a thousand times
You are just a loser
And you can’t make up your mind

Back in the days when a wagon ran the mail
Johnny was the sheriff and he packed the county jail
He climbed fences with his shotgun in the night
He was looking for the man who made the shine
The men who made the whiskey were always on the run
Only surrendered at the blast of Johnny’s gun
Sometimes he sat in a cornfield like a scarecrow
Until he caught them with their liquid pot of gold
They say old Johnny could walk 100 miles
Over the mountain before the sun would rise
Making sure the that bad guys never won
Keeping order in this county with a gun
Johnny kept ‘em runnin’ in the wind & rain
Back in those days he earned a dime a day
If you tried to run from Johnny and his hound
Ten days later you’d be six feet in the ground
Chorus: Time to run again
In the black of night
Cross the river
Got nowhere to hide/Where you gonna hide
Try to make it
Across the county line
Sun is coming up and…………
Johnny’s right behind

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh I believe in yesterday
Suddenly, I’m not half the girl I used to be
There’s a shadow hanging over me
Oh I believe in yesterday
Why he had to go I don’t know he wouldn’t say
I said something wrong now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh I believe in yesterday
Why he had to go I don’t know he wouldn’t say
I said something wrong now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh I believe in yesterday

Young couple, seventeen
So in love, swept off their feet
Parents fought it they did not approve
Said they’re too young they’re gonna lose
One day he got on his knee
He said I know we’re young, but would you marry me?
One night by the light of the moon
She climbed out of her window
And they ran away together on a southbound train
Said their vows by the light of day
Time was all they had on their side
And the train rolled on into the night
She didn’t have a wedding gown, she didn’t have a ring
But he was all she’d ever need
Into the night they snuck away
And they got married the next day
They stayed together until they were old & gray
Ever since 1922 when they ran away

Johnny Dowdle: Bass
Chrystal Sawyer: Harmony Vocals
Another day, another hundred miles
In an empty house again tonight
I know where I’ve been but I don’t know where I’m bound
I’ll try not to think of you & the love I thought we’d found
Another season, has passed me by
If I find love again, I’m hanging on for life
So I’ll think of you & go on with my day
The tears will come & go, just like the rain
Chorus: We fell in love just like so many times before
Then you changed your mind again & walked right out the door
You promised me forever as we sat beneath the stars
Then you had a change of heart
Then you had a change of heart
Chorus 2: We fell in love just like so many times before
Then you changed your mind & I’m not welcome anymore
You promised me forever and you held me in the dark
You just had a change of heart
You just had a change of heart

Chrystal Sawyer: Harmony Vocals
I’ve tried it all to get you back
Tried to forget the love we had
You keep runnin’ far away
And I keep holding on yesterday
I keep hopin’ you still care
I’m not happy anywhere
You’re not worth it, anyway
But I’m in prison until you come back to stay
I need you to set me free
I don’t know why you had to leave
Now you’re off with someone else
And I’ll be lonesome here all by myself
Loving you was just a crime
Come back to me I’ve done my time
I wish the past would set me free
And I could find someone that you could never be
Chorus: Your love is like a prison and you’ve thrown away the key
I hate being lonesome while you’re running wild and free
I’ll take back the things I said if you’ll come back to me
It’s cold & lonesome in this prison that your love turned out to be

On a hillside…. back in the woods
Far away from town
There’s an old abandoned graveyard
Lost & forgotten all about
The world has changed and no one knows
The ones laid there to rest beneath the pines
Their names have faded on the forest floor
On the stones that are all they left behind
If they were ever in a hurry
It didn’t do them any good
Rich or poor they’re all the same now
Resting in these old forgotten woods
I still wonder where they came from
And if they felt the same as you and me
I wonder who will stand above me
When I come to rest beneath the autumn leaves
Chorus: The world is turning….. the sun will shine
Without you and me
One day we’ll leave it all behind
Underneath the autumn leaves

I’m going home
Been a million miles
Seen a million things
And I’m getting tired
I’m dreaming now
Of the setting sun
Over home
When my work is done
I’ll leave behind
All my pain
You’ll remember me
When it rains
But don’t be sad
We’ll meet again
And we will find
The rainbows end
The hands of time
Are rolling on
Like a ship on the sea alone
When I reach
For His hand
He will take me
To a better land
I’m going home
We’ll meet again
And we will find the rainbows end

Many miles and days, spent by my daddy’s side
I got to know him well, we were together all the time
A hard-working man, with a Bible on his arm
His lungs stayed filled with dust, rolling hay on that old farm
His worn out hands they built my dollhouse and many miles of fence
They even built a real house, him and mama have lived in ever since
He’s never missed a Sunday, in that old country church
He’s always kind to strangers, and he’s always kept his word
Arthritis took him over, keeps him awake at night
He don’t deserve the pain, his silver hair is turning white
He no longer drives his tractor, it just sits out in the barn
And thought he is retired, he still works hard
He was never rich, but he never wanted anything
He sat out in the rain, selling cars and old machines
His old truck is barely running, but he drives it with a smile
He always made sure I had better, and that I was first in line
Chorus: A simple man, worth his weight in gold
I wouldn’t trade him, for everything I own
A simple man, simply growing old
But my love for him ain’t simple,
And I sure hope he knows

Oh they tell me of a home far beyond the skies
Oh they tell me of a home far away
Oh they tell me of a home where no storm clouds rise
Oh they tell me of an unclouded day
Oh they tell me that He smiles on His children there
And His smiles drive their sorrows all away
And they tell me no tears ever come again
In that lovely land of unclouded day
Chorus: Oh the land of cloudless day
Oh the land of an unclouded sky
Oh they tell me of a home far beyond the skies
Oh they tell me of an unclouded day

Tempted & tried we’re oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus, all the day long
While there are others living about us
Never molested, though in the wrong
Faithful ‘til death said, our loving Master
A few more days to, labor & wait
Toils of the road will, then seem as nothing
As we sweep through the, beautiful gate
When we see Jesus, coming in glory
When He comes from His home in the sky
Then we shall meet Him, in that bright mansion,
And we’ll understand it, all by & by
Chorus: Farther along we’ll, know all about it
Farther along we’ll, understand why
Cheer up my brother, live in the sunshine
We’ll understand it, all by & by

I was a stranger further out in sin
Didn’t even have a love for God within
But now I’ve found Him & I’m on my way
God loves His Children, every day
Brother take warning while yet, you have time
Don’t let old Satan lead you on down the line
Just tell old Satan to stay out of your way,
He will protect you, every day
I’m glad I found Him now I’m on my way
I’m going to follow Jesus every day
Nothing can change me & I’m glad to say
I love my Savior, every day
Chorus: God loves His children, yes I know
He will protect you everywhere you go
Just call upon Him He will hear your prayer
God loves His children, everywhere

I love you so much that I can’t let you go
& sometimes I believe you love me
Somewhere between your heart & mine
There’s a door without any key
Somewhere between, your heart & mine
There’s a love I can’t understand
Oh it’s there for a while, then it fades like a smile
Nothing left in the middle again
Chorus: Somewhere between your heart & mine
There’s a window, that I can see through
There’s a wall so high, that it reaches the sky
Somewhere between me & you

It’s been ten long years, since I left my home
In the holler where I was born
Where the cool fall nights, make wood smoke rise
And the fox hunter blows his horn
I fell in love with a girl from the town
I thought that she would be true
I ran away to Charlottesville
And worked in a sawmill or two
Now the girl ran off with somebody else
The tariffs took all my pay
And here I stand where the old home stood
Before they took it away
Now the geese fly south and the cold wind blows
As I stand here & hang my head
I’ve lost my home
I’ve lost my love & now I wish that I were dead
Chorus: What have they done, to the old homeplace
Why did they tear it down?
And why did I leave the plow in the field
And look for a job in the town?
