1 All You Need Is A Dream
Written by Donna Hughes,
FLYING HOUND PUBLISHING, BMI
Copyright 2014
Piano: Donna Hughes
Violin: Jenee Fleenor
Harmony Vocals: Melody Williamson
Cello: John Catchings
Bass Violin: Mark Fain
It starts with a spark
Then it turns into a flame
It starts with a tear
That’s falls like rain
It starts with a head bowed
And falls on bended knee
You can do anything
All you need is a dream
When the road gets rough
When you feel like giving up
When your heart breaks
If you can hold on through the pain
You can fly
You can touch the sky
You can be anything you want to be,
With a dream
A warm embrace
Becomes a love that lasts forever
You need faith
Through any stormy weather
When you’re down
Never ever give up
Keep reaching for it
Keep holding on
Your day will come
There is nothing that can hold you back
If you put your mind to something
The sky’s the limit when you believe
All you need is a dream
When the road gets rough
When you feel like giving up
When your heart breaks
If you can hold on through the pain
You can fly
You can touch the sky
You can be anything you want to be,
With a dream
You can fly
You can touch the sky
You can do anything, anywhere, anyway
With a dream
2 Dog On a Ten 10 Foot Chain
Written by Donna Hughes
FLYING HOUND PUBLISHING, BMI
Copyright 2014
Piano: Donna Hughes
Violin, Harmony vocals: Jenee Fleenor
Cello: John Catchings
Bass Violin: Mark Fain
Verse 1: Nothing to look forward to
Watching cars go by all day
Nothing to play with, nothing to do
Shivering in the cold hard rain
Verse 2: They forget to bring me water
They forget that I am here
They don’t know how smart I am
They don’t even see my tears
Chorus 1: What did I do wrong, what did I do?
I just want someone to love me, because I love you
Whatever I did wrong, maybe I can change
No one knows how hard it is, how hard it is to be………. a dog on a 10 foot chain
Verse 3: Sometimes it’s hard to stay cool
On a blazing hot summer day
I dream of crossing the stream
And catching a fish as the sunlight fades
Verse 4: It’s hard to stay warm in the winter
Some nights it’s hard to be strong
I dream of chasing butterflies
And rabbits all day long
Chorus 2: What did I do wrong, what did I do?
I just want someone to love me, because I love you
Whatever I did wrong, maybe I can change
No one knows how hard it is, how hard it is to be………. a dog on a 10 foot chain
Bridge:
The world is big and beautiful
But I’ll never see it all
Maybe when I go to Heaven
Someone will throw me a red ball
Chorus 3: What did I do wrong, what did I do?
I just want someone to love me, because I love you
Whatever I did wrong, maybe I can change
No one knows how hard it is, how hard it is to be………. a dog on a 10 foot chain
3 Gone

Cello: John Catchings
Bass Violin: Mark Fain
A little old lady, living alone
Her little old husband, buried and gone
I’d go see her and we’d have tea
Sang her my songs, as we sat in the breeze
She liked checkers and learning new words
Sewing and reading and watching the birds
She showed me everything in her house
And gave me a tour when I came around
Dishes from England, antiques everywhere
An old piano, a rocking chair
She made me an afghan with her little hands
And showed me her golden wedding bands
One day I came to sing her a song
She wasn’t there, the house was bare, and everything was
Gone …….gone
She had died on a rainy day
Her family didn’t know me
They didn’t know that I loved her so
And they didn’t know to call me
They didn’t know what to do with her things
They didn’t have room
For things they didn’t need
So they had an auction and sold it all
And everything was
Gone ……..gone
I never got to tell her goodbye
I never got to thank her
The beautiful afghan and great advice
And I hope she knew that I loved her
I hope someday when I get old
I have a friend at the end of the road
I hope somebody misses me, and remembers
Me when I’m gone
Gone

Copyright 2014
Piano: Donna Hughes
Violin, Harmony vocals: Jenee Fleenor
Cello: John Catchings
Bass Violin: Mark Fain
Verse 1:
I rode by the old graveyard today
Out in the city, there’s a thousand graves
Row after row of names carved in stone
Resting quietly in the middle of it all
Turnaround
Verse 2:
My heart felt heavy, & I couldn’t turn away
Standing there with the giant red oak
Must’ve been a million tears that fell
She said goodbye as they departed one by one
Chorus 1:
All the stories buried here
Tales of love & war and dying
Old men and babies, lying here together
And the red oak with her secrets
Secrets she will keep
Life goes on around them
The forgotten souls, beneath the red oak tree
Break
Verse 3: Here lies the hands that built the houses down the street
Ornate gables with hand-carved peaks
They built the old church that helped their souls
Reach a better land, beginning at this tree
Turnaround
Change tempo – Verse 4: Here lies the beautiful, the young & old
Tears behind them now, long, long ago
Laughter replaced by the quiet red oak tree
All their joys & struggles she cannot speak
Chorus 2:
All the stories buried here
Tales of love & war and dying
Young newlyweds, lying here together
And the red oak with her secrets
Secrets she will keep
Life goes on around them
The forgotten souls, beneath the red oak tree
Bridge:
You can tell which ones had money by their stones
They’re all the same now, beneath this oak
Chorus 3:
All the stories buried here
Tales of love & war and dying
Handsome soldiers & their widows
Lying here together
And the red oak with her secrets
Secrets she will keep
Life goes on around them
The forgotten souls, beneath the red oak tree
